AAF/Ines Mandel/HSS Fellowship
A research fellowship for promising attending physicians in orthopedics.
Fellowship Program for Orthopedics
The American Austrian Foundation, the Ines Mandl Foundation and the Hospital for Special Surgery provide Austrian attending physicians from the department of orthopedics at the Medical University of Vienna three-months fellowships to do research on connective tissue at Dr. Mathias Bostrom’s lab at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
"I took [the opportunity to work on a research project independently] as a challenge to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible. The reward was that after only 6 months, I was surprised about how many skills I had acquired in such a short amount of time.
What struck me was that all lab members, no matter if professor, technician, or student, actively and productively participated in the discussion in the various lab and research meetings. All feedback was welcome and incorporated into the conversation.
All taken together, this fellowship has definitely been one of the best times of my life, and I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to take chance if given the opportunity to go."
