AAF Curatorial Exchange Program

Young Curators spend up to a month at a leading U.S. or Austrian museum to expand their expertise.

The American Austrian Foundation’s Curatorial Exchange Program was established in 2017. Under this exchange, directors from leading U.S. and Austrian museums select a young curator from their respective institutions to spend up to one month in Austria and the United States at a corresponding museum in the department of their choice to expand their expertise.

The program is funded by an annual luncheon, honoring individuals from both the United States and Austria in various fields of professional accomplishment including art, architecture, design, film, and music, organized by the AAF Cultural Committee, chaired by AAF trustee Dr. Gregor Medinger.

"The AAF Curatorial Exchange Program provided me with the unique opportunity to learn more about the historic items of the MET Museum and to explore archival sources. Personal conversations with various colleagues from different departments enhanced my perspectives on museology, collection management, and organizational structure."
