Each year, through the generosity of AAF Board Member Gerhard Seebacher and his wife Angelica, the American Austrian Foundation awards scholarships graduates in fine arts from American universities to attend the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Austria.

This year’s AAF/Seebacher Prize for Fine Arts winners Julia Helen Murray and Ariel Wills (both from Rhode Island School of Design), and Vera Weinfield (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) attended courses in Salzburg in July and August 2024 and had the chance to learn from and exchange ideas with other fine arts students, artists, curators, and art critics from around the world.

At the end of her stay, Vera Weinfield’s installation and video were on display in the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts’ studio. Of her experience, Vera says: “The workshop was really incredible, and I learned so much from the other students, the teachers, and from spending time in Salzburg itself. I am so grateful for the funding I received from the American Austrian Foundation that gave me the opportunity to experience all of this!”
